ZF Revolutionizes Commercial Vehicle Safety and Efficiency with Intelligent Software Solutions
The commercial vehicle industry is undergoing a significant transformation with the integration of advanced technologies, and ZF Group, a leading automotive technological solution company, is at the forefront of this revolution. By harnessing the power of intelligent software solutions, ZF is enhancing the performance, safety, and efficiency of commercial vehicles, setting new standards for the industry.
One of the key innovations from ZF is its software brake resistor technology, which replaces traditional hardware brake resistors in electric commercial vehicles. This intelligent system uses location data to determine when the vehicle is likely to descend a steep gradient and adjusts the battery charge accordingly, ensuring maximum energy harvesting capacity. This not only eliminates the need for bulky and expensive brake resistors but also frees up space within the chassis, reduces weight by 150 kg, and increases energy efficiency.
Another significant development from ZF is its e-Drive synergy program, which optimizes energy recovery during braking to recharge onboard batteries, increasing the range of electric trucks or reducing the number of batteries required. This program synchronizes the electric driveline and brake operations to maximize recuperation under full stability control, resulting in improved efficiency, safety, and comfort while reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO).
The e-Drive synergy program is made possible by ZF’s advanced braking system, mBSP XBS, and its next-generation e-drives, AxTrax 2 dual and CeTrax 2 dual. This system enables the e-drive to function as an actuator for the braking system and vice versa, managing acceleration and braking. The result is a significant increase in the vehicle’s range, improved driving comfort, and better launch capabilities.
