February 2025: From Convincing People About Technology to Being Recognized for It

There are some moments in a startup journey that make you remember where you started.

For us, receiving the Logistics Technology Award at LEAPS 2024, presented during the release of the Logistics Ease Across Different States – LEADS 2024 report, was one of those moments.

Of course, receiving an award feels good.

But this one meant something different.

It made us think about the years when we were trying to convince people that technology could actually play a meaningful role in India’s trucking and logistics industry.

Back then, digitising trucking itself sounded ambitious.

More than a decade later, we were standing at a platform where TruckSuvidha’s contribution to logistics technology was being recognised.

For us, that was not just an award.

It was a moment to look back at the road that brought us here.

When Technology Was Not an Easy Conversation

When we started TruckSuvidha, the industry operated very differently.

Finding a truck could mean calling multiple people.

Finding a load could depend heavily on personal networks.

Vehicle visibility was limited.

A transporter might have to make repeated calls just to understand where a truck had reached.

Payments, documents, tracking and communication involved several manual processes.

When we talked about bringing technology into this ecosystem, adoption was never automatic.

There were questions.

Why change something that has worked for years?

Will transporters actually use technology?

Will truck drivers use it?

Can an online platform really work in such a relationship-driven industry?

We did not have a perfect answer to every question.

So we did what became a recurring part of the TruckSuvidha journey.

We went to the ground and kept building.

One Problem Took Us to Another

The interesting thing about our journey is that it was never one straight product roadmap.

We started with connecting trucks and loads.

Then came the need for vehicle visibility and GPS.

As the highway ecosystem became more digital, FASTag became another important area.

We worked with transporters.

We worked around truck drivers and their needs.

During COVID, we saw the importance of logistics from an entirely different perspective.

Our interaction with government institutions and the startup ecosystem gave us another view of transportation.

Then came questions around verification, digital fraud and trust.

And eventually, our exploration started moving towards ANPR, vehicle identification, seamless movement and connected infrastructure.

Every problem introduced us to another problem.

And every solution showed us how much more there was still to solve.

Then Came a Moment of Recognition

Against that background, the LEAPS recognition felt special.

TruckSuvidha was recognised with the Logistics Technology Award at the LEAPS 2024 Awards, associated with the LEADS 2024 report and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade.

The broader conversations around logistics were also becoming much larger.

Technology.

AI.

Sustainability.

Green logistics.

Workforce inclusion.

Efficiency.

Digital infrastructure.

These were no longer side conversations in logistics.

They were becoming part of how the future of the sector was being discussed.

For a company that had spent years trying to introduce technology into trucking, seeing that shift itself was meaningful.

Recognition Also Makes You Uncomfortable

Awards are usually presented as a finish line.

We looked at this one differently.

Because while receiving recognition, we knew what was happening behind the scenes.

We were still testing.

Still learning.

Still finding edge cases.

Still trying to make technologies work under actual Indian road conditions.

Our ANPR work was a good example.

Reading a registration number in a controlled environment was one thing.

Identifying vehicles moving at real road speeds was another.

Connecting that identification with FASTag and eventually an actual financial transaction raised the difficulty again.

We were dealing with imperfect number plates, different vehicles, different conditions, infrastructure requirements, data, integrations and operational exceptions.

So while one part of February was about being recognised for technology, another part was reminding us:

There was still a lot of technology left to build.

From Recognition Back to the Road

That contrast made the moment more meaningful.

You receive an award on a stage.

You take photographs.

People congratulate you.

And then you come back.

The camera still has to read the difficult number plate.

The integration still has to work.

The transaction still has to be accurate.

The transporter still needs a solution.

The driver still needs a smoother journey.

The system still needs to survive ground reality.

That is startup life.

Recognition may tell you that you are moving in a meaningful direction. It does not do the remaining work for you.

A Very Different Conversation From Our Early Days

Looking back, perhaps the biggest achievement was not the trophy itself.

It was how much the conversation around logistics had changed.

In our early days, we were explaining why trucking needed digitisation.

Years later, India was discussing AI in logistics, greener transportation, digital infrastructure, technology-enabled supply chains and more efficient freight movement.

The ecosystem had matured.

Our own thinking had matured with it.

And the problems we wanted to solve had become much bigger.

From:

“Can technology help find a truck?”

to:

“Can technology help a vehicle move through infrastructure with minimum friction?”

That is a very long journey.

The Award Belonged to the Journey

No startup reaches such a moment because of one person or one year.

There were team members who built when things were uncertain.

Customers who trusted us.

Transporters who gave feedback.

Truck drivers who showed us the ground reality.

Partners who opened doors.

Institutions that supported us.

People who challenged our assumptions.

And even the experiments that failed contributed something to the journey.

There were also difficult years when survival itself felt like progress.

That is why this recognition belonged to the entire journey.

February Gave Us Confidence, Not Completion

January 2025 had been about taking our next technology vision closer to actual ground implementation.

February gave us something different.

Validation.

Not validation that every idea we had was correct.

Not validation that every technology would work.

And certainly not a signal that our journey was complete.

It was validation that continuing to work on technology for India’s logistics ecosystem was worth the effort.

After years of trying, failing, adapting, rebuilding and returning to the ground, being recognised for logistics technology gave us another reason to keep going.

The celebration mattered.

But what happened after the celebration mattered more.

We went back to work.

Because after more than a decade of TruckSuvidha, one thing had become very clear:

An award can recognise the road you have travelled.

It cannot travel the next road for you.
