Judges, Delhi lokayukta and speaker of the assembly had sought exemption, claiming that the move may “compromise their security and jeopardise the secrecy” of their work.

Rejecting the request, general administration department minister Gopal Rai has clarified there is no justification to exempt the lokayukta and speaker. Only the judges have been exempted.

Last year, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal made it mandatory to get GPS devices installed in government vehicles, and ordered that no fuel will be given to any government vehicles, and ordered that no fuel will be given to any government vehicle not fitted with GPS. The move came after the CM received complaints against misuse of vehicles by officers, some of whom kept more than two vehicles. The government own around 5,000 vehicles and 600-odd vehicles hired from private agencies.
