Transport ministerial employees call off strike

Work at all 18 regional transport offices(RTOs) and assistant regional transport offices (ARTOs) in state resumed on Tuesday after the ministerial employees of the transport department called off their strike.

Services such as issuing driving licence or vehicle registration had remained suspended for 12 days after 300 ministerial workers went on a strike demanding roll back of dealer point registration.
Sunder Lal Pandey, general secretary of Parivahan Ministerial Employees Union, said, “The striking employees are claiming that chief minister Harish Rawat has assured them that the implementation of dealer point registration, which came into force from December 1, will be deferred.”
However, transport officials said that they have not yet received any orders to roll back dealer point registration system.
Talking to TOI, Sunita Singh, additional transport commissioner, said, “We have not received orders to roll back the dealer point registration. It is still in force.”
