May 2024 – Building for Tomorrow, Even When Today Looks Ordinary

Sometimes the biggest progress is invisible. It happens in discussions, research, policy understanding, and preparing for a future that the market has not fully seen yet.

When people look at a startup journey, they often expect every month to come with a big announcement, a funding round, a product launch, or a viral milestone.

Reality is very different.

There are months where nothing dramatic happens publicly, but internally those months define the next several years.

May 2024 was one of those months for us.

There was no celebration. No major launch. No headline that changed everything overnight.

Instead, there was something far more valuable.

Conviction.

We spent the month understanding where transportation and logistics in India was actually heading rather than where it had been.

Reading the Industry Before Building the Product

One lesson we had learned over the years was simple.

Technology should never be built in isolation.

It should evolve alongside policy, infrastructure, and industry needs.

As we continued discussions around digital tolling, ANPR, FASTag integrations, and seamless mobility, several national developments started validating the direction we had been thinking about.

The industry itself was changing rapidly.

Dedicated Freight Corridors were expanding Truck-on-Train services to reduce road congestion, improve transit time, and lower logistics costs.

Ports like JNPA announced ambitious Zero Emission Trucking initiatives, planning to replace thousands of diesel trucks with electric alternatives over the coming years.

Commercial vehicle manufacturers were investing heavily in hydrogen, electric, LNG, and alternative fuel technologies.

National conversations were shifting from simply moving goods to moving them more efficiently, more sustainably, and more intelligently.

Every one of these developments reinforced one belief.

The future of logistics would not depend on just bigger roads. It would depend on smarter infrastructure.

Digital Infrastructure Was Becoming the Real Highway

Roads connect cities.

Digital infrastructure connects ecosystems.

FASTag had already shown that millions of transactions could happen without stopping vehicles.

Now discussions were expanding beyond toll plazas.

Could permits become digital?

Could compliance become automatic?

Could taxes be collected without physical checkpoints?

Could freight movement become almost invisible from an administrative perspective?

These were no longer futuristic questions.

They were becoming policy discussions.

For us, this meant that the technology we had been exploring over the previous months was becoming increasingly relevant.

Our belief remained unchanged.

A truck should spend its time moving goods, not waiting in queues.

Every Policy Was Creating New Opportunities

Another observation became increasingly clear.

Government policies were no longer working independently.

National Logistics Policy.

PM GatiShakti.

FASTag expansion.

Digital compliance.

Intelligent Transport Systems.

Dedicated Freight Corridors.

Green mobility.

Each initiative looked different on paper.

But together, they were creating one connected logistics ecosystem.

That meant startups also had to stop thinking in silos.

The next generation of logistics companies would not solve just one problem.

They would connect multiple systems together.

That realization influenced many of our internal product discussions.

The Industry Was Evolving Beyond Transportation

Transportation was no longer just about trucks.

It was becoming about:

  • Digital identity
  • Financial systems
  • Intelligent infrastructure
  • Data-driven operations
  • Sustainability
  • Real-time visibility
  • Policy integration

The truck remained the same.

Everything around it was changing.

And that meant startups had to evolve much faster than before.

Progress Is Not Always Visible

There are phases where founders measure progress through revenue.

There are phases where they measure progress through product.

And then there are phases where progress is measured through clarity.

May 2024 gave us clarity.

Clarity that the logistics industry was entering one of the biggest technology transformations in its history.

Clarity that India’s infrastructure was becoming digital-first.

Clarity that the future would belong to organizations capable of connecting policy, technology, finance, compliance, and operations into one seamless ecosystem.

That was exactly the direction we wanted TruckSuvidha to move towards.

Startup Lessons

This month reminded us of a few important lessons:

  • Not every important month creates headlines.
  • Understanding industry direction is as important as building technology.
  • Policy changes often create the biggest startup opportunities.
  • Great startups prepare before the market starts demanding the solution.
  • Sometimes your biggest achievement is having the patience to build while everyone else is waiting to react.

Looking Ahead

As May came to an end, we knew one thing.

The transportation industry was changing faster than ever before.

Digital infrastructure was replacing manual systems.

New mobility technologies were becoming practical.

Government reforms were accelerating.

And startups finally had an opportunity to build products that could influence the next decade of Indian logistics.

We did not have all the answers.

But we knew we were asking the right questions.

And often, that is how every meaningful journey begins.
