Ishu Bansal, Co-founder of TruckSuvidha Interview on YEF

YEF – Tell us a bit about yourself and your background?

Ishu – A software engineer by profession who has a vision. Like any other software engineer I dreamt of having my own start-up once and this was despite the fact that I had a very successful career. I have done my B.Tech after which I went to work for Infosys. After 2 and half years, I switched to Sapient for better prospects. My tenure in Sapient was short lived as I left after a year to live my dream. Project Management, Team Handling and software development (complete SDLC) are the key skills I learnt in these 3 years which have proved useful for me on many occasions during my venture into the logistics industry.

YEF – Why an entrepreneur, why not a high paying job?

Ishu – Being an entrepreneur was never about the money. It was about introducing a new concept that makes a difference. Sure money is as important as any other entity but the anticipation when you see your first customer paying for a service leaves you with a sense of satisfaction never to be experienced again. It is about changing lives, happy customers, motivated team which makes you eager to go to work every day.

YEF – What inspired you to start your own businesses?

Ishu – I belong to a business family, so you can say it runs in my blood. One of our earlier businesses was of plywood which involved immediate booking of trucks as the quality of finished product depends on how early the raw material (plywood) is delivered to the manufacturer. This required immediate transportation of plywood for which we were dependent on trucks and transporters. The thing I realized at that point was despite the availability we weren’t getting trucks due to lack of information and mismanagement. I thought to do something about that only to realize my first venture was going to be this only.

YEF – What is your company into and what problem does it solve?

Ishu – The main idea is simple yet unique. In the era of e-commerce websites when people can book almost everything online ranging from a movie ticket to an airplane seat, why isn’t it possible to book a truck online? The logistics industry is vast with all the required resources but still the demand is not being met. We plan to act as the bridge between the customer and the transporter as we faced a lot of trouble while booking a truck online for our business. This was the driving force behind this venture.

The logistics industry is big contributing to 4.7% of the GDP of India. Even with such a big contribution transport has not been given its due share. The problem lies in the existing system where there is a lack of information amid the users. Trucks are available but the customers still find it difficult to book them. Our platform bridges this demand and supply gap by bringing all the key players on a single common platform. Apart from booking a truck we provide real time support to anyone requiring our help. We have a full time call center which caters to your doubts and concerns not only pertaining to TruckSuvidha but in general too for issues related to the transportation industry. Our aim is to overhaul this sector with the available resources and technology, to set an example for other industries by being the most organized sectors in the world.
