Vehicular traffic between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka was halted for more than two hours on Monday after a container truck developed technical snag on Dimbam ghat road.
The highways patrol police said the truck was stranded at ninth hairpin bend of the Dimbam ghat section.
“The truck was heading to Mysuru from Coimbatore,” an official from Sathyamangalam police said. He said the truck developed some technical snag in its wheel axle.
The driver could not steer the truck and stopped the vehicle on the ghat road. Stranded vehicles included trucks and government buses operated by the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) and KSRTC.
Coimbatore-bound buses were stopped at Hassanur check post.
Similarly, vehicles bound towards Mysuru and Chamaraj Nagar were stopped at Bannari in Erode district.
Around 11am, the technical snag was rectified, and the truck drove towards Mysuru. Vehicular movements resumed on both directions of the ghat road.
