Arunachal Pradesh: Inter-corridors between two highways proposed

Synopsis

Six inter routes spread across 2178 km are proposed. In a office memorandum the ministry stated that presently there are two arterial routes/corridors (i) NH-15 which runs longitudinally along foothills bordering Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and (ii) NH-13 / NH 215 i.e. Trans Arunachal Highways which runs midway in the state of Arunachal Pradesh.

Union ministry of Road transport and highways has proposed for development of inter-corridors between National Highway (NH)-15 – Trans Arunachal Highways (NH13 / NH 215) and Frontier Highways in the state of Arunachal Pradesh.

In a office memorandum the ministry stated that presently there are two arterial routes/corridors (i) NH-15 which runs longitudinally along foothills bordering Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and (ii) NH-13 / NH 215 i.e. Trans Arunachal Highways which runs midway in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. The NH-15 is already developed into a two lane paved shoulder. NH-13 / NH-215 (Trans Arunachal Highways) is under development for two laning. Out of 1,540 kilometres of Trans Arunachal highways, work has been completed in about 1,458 kilometres and work is in progress in the remaining length. Another highway has been proposed by the Ministry of Home Affairs along the international border of India/China in the state of Arunachal Pradesh called Frontier highways. Length of this highway is about 1,859 km at present. The DPR of this highway is being prepare by the ministry.
The memorandum stated in the above three corridors, there is no proper inter connectivity among them. There are many missing links in between in the inter-connecting roads. Inter connectivity between these three corridors is very important and critical to improve the connectivity and movement of the army towards the border. For improving the inter connectivity between these three corridors, six inter routes have been shortlisted.

The stretch includes Itakhola-Seijosa-Pakke Kessand- Seppa Chayangtajo- Sanggram-Parsi Parlo 391 km, Kanubari- Longding 404 KM, Akajan- Pango Jorging 398 km, Gogamukh Tahila Tato 285km, Thelamara- Tawang- Nelia (border) 402km and Pasighat Bishing (border) 298 km.
