Regional transport Authority to issue NOC to old commercial vehicles

As per the instructions from national green tribunal (NGT), commercial petrol vehicles that are older than 15 years and diesel vehicles which are 10 years old on February 29, 2016, are not allowed to ply in NCR region.

Owners of old commercial vehicles will have to take an NOC from regional transport authority (RTA). This implies to those who still want to use their vehicles albeit in other parts of the country.

As per the instructions from national green tribunal (NGT), commercial petrol vehicles that are older than 15 years and diesel vehicles which are 10 years old on February 29, 2016, are not allowed to ply in NCR region.

Also, the NGT has asked the district RTA to submit the final list of the commercial vehicles. Therefore, the RTA has now asked all old commercial vehicles to collect a no objection certificate (NOC) from the authority’s office.

“The NOC will be given to those old vehicles which have crossed the age limit prescribed by NGT but are otherwise fit to ply on roads. The NOC will help in getting these vehicles re-registered in some other part of the country outside NCR, where they can ply,” said RTA secretary Jitender Kumar.

The registration of the vehicles who will not take the NOC will be cancelled by the RTA. The NOC will have to be renewed before October 31, 2016 and the RTA will start cancelling the registration of the pending vehicles from November 1.
