KPL said that considering the ex-im demand, KPL developed four terminals, viz. marine liquid terminal of 3 mtpa capacities, common user coal terminal of 8 mtpa and iron ore terminal of 6 mtpa capacity through PPP-BOT model.

KPL has developed a new general cargo-cum-RoRo terminal for handling automobiles, project cargo, etc. At present, it has 6 berths with capacity of 30 mtpa to handle various types of cargo. The throughput at Kamarajar Port registered a sound growth of 52.82% at 27.34 mt (2013-14) as against 17.89 mt in the corresponding period of the 2012-13 fiscal.
