Daimler India exports bus chassis to Egypt
Daimler India Commercial Vehicle has begun exporting bus chassis to Egypt, the company said in a statement.
Daimler’s Cairo-based business partner MVM will be responsible for building the body on the nine-tonne chassis there. Daimler said that “Finished vehicles will be sold as Mercedes Benz buses through MCV’s nationwide sales network.”
The bus chassis with front-mounted engines are manufactured at the company’s plant in Chennai, where they would be rolled out from the same assembly line as that of trucks.
The upcoming 113,000-square meter Daimler India plant, which will have an initial installed capacity of 1,500 vehicles per year, will manufacture both Mercedes Benz and BharatBenz.
