there could not be a legal discontinuity even though the Government has changed. He was visiting a spot on a flyover on the Highway at Kot Putli, where there had been some damage leading to traffic jams and diversions, said a release by the Road Transport Highways Ministry on Sunday.

Gujjar said the responsibility for the damaged flyover would be fixed based on the enquiry report to be submitted by the Centre for Road Research Institute, which had been asked to conduct the enquiry and submit a report by the July 10.

The Minister also assured local people that repairs to service lanes would be done in the next two days to ease the traffic and also ordered all the flyovers ready to be opened in the next three or four days.

The minister assured the people that the National Highways authority of India (NHAI) will complete all the works relating to the Highway within one year even if the contractor does not finish works by that time.

Originally the works were to have been completed by 2011. There were some problems relating to land acquisition also. Shri Gujjar said that since his political party is in power in the state and the center, they will now work in tandem to finish the works on the highway.
