JK Tyre to use new tyre size for T1 Prima Truck racing

JK Tyre, which is the tyre partner for Tata T1 Prima Truck Racing, announced on Thursday that it will use a different size of tyres than what were used in the previous two editions of the truck racing.

This season, the tyre size that will be used for the trucks will be 315/70R22.5 which is approved by the European and British truck racing. In the first two seasons the tyre size used was 315/80R22.5.

“As a pioneer of motorsport in India, JK Tyre is proud to partner with T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship for the third time. From the very first year of the Championship, we have seen great passion for it in India and T1 has proved to be a great platform to showcase the competence of the Indian commercial vehicles industry,” Vikram Malhotra, marketing director, JK Tyre & Industries.

“Season III will witness inclusion of Indian Race Truck drivers who will be competing with their international counterparts. We, at JK Tyre, hope that its popularity continues to grow and we get to see much more action in the years to come.”

According to JK Tyre, Lower aspect ratio of the tyre 70 series in comparison to 80 series is based on the requirement of the vehicle. This helps in keeping the centre of gravity of the vehicle lower thereby better stability during cornering. “The tyre is designed with special low heat and high traction compound to meet the most gruelling braking conditions of a racing circuit. Overall the tyres have been designed to take speeds more than 160 km/h with extra reinforced steel belts and dual layer tread compound.”

Tata T1 Prima Truck Racing will take place on March 19-20 at Budh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
