Ashok Leyland Pioneers Electric Truck Market with Deliveries to Billion Electric Mobility

Commencing the delivery of its cutting-edge electric trucks to Billion Electric Mobility, a Group BillionE member, is a major milestone in sustainable transportation for Ashok Leyland, the Indian commercial vehicle giant, and the flagship of the Hinduja Group. With this calculated action, Ashok Leyland demonstrates their dedication to environmentally friendly transportation and takes the lead in India’s market for electric commercial vehicles.

The company has three electric truck types available: the AVTR 55T Electric, BOSS 19T Electric, and BOSS 14T Electric. These vehicles, with their cutting-edge technologies and creative looks, represent a significant advancement in ecologically responsible transportation choices. Notably, the AVTR 55T Electric Tractor is the first 4×2 Tractor commercially sold by an Indian CV manufacturer, and the BOSS Electric is India’s first electric truck in the Intermediate Commercial Vehicle (ICV) category.

Billion Electric Mobility has placed a substantial order of 180 electric vehicles, including BOSS electric trucks and AVTR 55T Electric Tractors, signaling strong confidence in Ashok Leyland’s electric vehicle technology. This collaboration between Ashok Leyland and the BillionE Group aims to accelerate the transition towards cleaner and more efficient transportation solutions.

The electric trucks boast several advanced features designed to enhance performance, safety, and efficiency. The battery packs are strategically positioned at the frame level, ensuring compatibility with standard trailers and superstructures. These packs come with IP67 protection, safeguarding against water and dust ingress. Safety is further enhanced with Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS).

Additional innovative features include simultaneous dual-gun charging for faster recharging and the widely used Common Charging Standard 2 (CCS2), addressing key concerns in electric vehicle adoption such as charging time and infrastructure compatibility.
