Freight rates for the nine-tonne payload section rose by Rs 1000 at the local truck transport market today following paucity of trucks in the market amid better cargo movements.

Transporters said thin availability of trucks and increased cargo movements mainly pushed up some of centres freight rates.

Delhi to Vijayawada, Goa, Guwahati and Kolkata freight rates moved up by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 61,000, Rs 60,000, Rs 62,000 and Rs 31,000.

Rates to Coimbatore, Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai, Surat and Baroda also went up by Rs 1000 each to Rs 73,000, Rs 81,000, Rs 29,000, Rs 27,000 and Rs 21,000.

Following are today’s freights per 9-tonne load (in Rs): Jaipur 14,500 Hyderabad 58,000 Chandigarh 16,500 Vijayawada 61,000 Ludhiana 18,000 Bengaluru 64,000 Kanpur 20,500 Chennai 65,000 Indore 22,000 Mysore 66,000 Ahmedabad 21,000 Puducherry 68,000 Baroda 22,000 Coimbatore 73,000 Patna 26,000 Kochi 75,000 Surat 27,000 Thiruvananthapuram 81,000 Mumbai 29,000 Goa 60,000 Pune 31,000 Gwalior 12,000 Kolkata 31,000 Guwahati 62,000.
