Wheat packing starts again at Kochi port
Evacuation of the 31,800 tonnes of wheat that arrived at the Kochi port a week ago is back on stream with packing of the commodity beginning at the port godowns on Monday.
A dispute over wages for packing had stopped the transport of the consignment out of the port area.
The Headload Workers’ Welfare Board oversees supply of labour for packing and transport. However, the packing workers were unwilling to accept the wage fixed by the Board and demanded higher wages.
