Telangana Govt. to spend INR 20,000cr in improving infrastructure

Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) Vice-Chairman and Managing Director E V Narasimha Reddy said that the Telangana Government is planning to invest INR 20,000 crore in improving infrastructure in Hyderabad, Warangal and Nizamabad.

Addressing a conference organized by the Federation of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTAPCCI) and The Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India (Assocham), Reddy said plans are also afoot to improve connectivity with ports.

He added that “We are already working with three dry ports in the state and soon proposals will be invited for the development of other dry Ports as well. We also have plans to tie up with ports at Krishnapatnam and Machilipatanam to facilitate international trade from the state.”

Telangana Industries Commissioner K Manickaraj said the State Government is keen on increasing the share of manufacturing sector in the state’s Gross State Domestic Product.

He said that “The services sector has been contributing more than 50% of the state’s GSDP and the State Government is of the view that in order to create more employment opportunities, particularly for semi-skilled and unskilled workers, the share of the manufacturing industry must go up.”
