DHL opens USD 4.4 million Leipzig logistics centre for pharmaceuticals
DHL Global Forwarding has opened a logistics centre for pharmaceuticals in Leipzig, near the airport at a cost of EUR 3.4 million (USD 4.4 million) and which will provide 30 jobs.
The state-of-the-art facility covering 3,000 square metres will serve as a centre for the transport, preparation, storage of active and passive temperature controlled products, reports Atlanta area Air Cargo World. DHL life sciences chief Angelos Orfanos said that “With the opening, we expand our network of temperature controlled stations.”
He said that “Providing quality service to life-saving products is a big responsibility, which we are committed to by continuously investing in sector-specific expertise and infrastructure.”
The company, together with its customer, Octapharma, designed the cold storage facility and is responsible for managing the transportand warehousing of air freight shipments.
