Haldia Dock Complex gets camera surveillance system

R.P.S. Kahlon, Chairman of Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT), recently inaugurated a camera surveillance system at the Haldia Dock Complex (HDC).

KoPT said in a statement, Installed at a total cost of INR 58 lakh, it is to be used extensively by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to monitor the entire dock complex at Haldia.

The surveillance system has 17 cameras, both fixed and Pan-Tilt-Zoom, capable of retaining live video feed for a period of 90 days for immediate review.

Meanwhile, Kahlon also initiated the online application for fresh and renewal of “Short Term Land Allotment” at HDC, under which stakeholders of the Port would be able to apply online and visualise operational information of the geo referenced plots over the Internet as well as by using an Android-based mobile app, the statement said.

The project was inaugurated by the Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, on June 24, 2015.

KoPT has taken various user-friendly, cost-effective measures to bring improvements in efficiency and quality of service, including installing state-of-the-art modern equipment and providing various customised packages.

The Chairman reiterated that the hard work and combined efforts of all employees, improvement in overall services, coupled with various cost-saving measures for Port users have contributed in a major way to the spectacular rise in cargo traffic through the gateway facility.
